Legacy Thrift Introduce

For local users in Grand Rapids, Michigan, Legacy Thrift, located at 5274 Plainfield Ave NE, operates as a discount thrift store offering a variety of secondhand goods. Thrift stores like Legacy Thrift typically aim to provide affordable items for the community and promote eco-conscious shopping by giving used items a new life. While the provided information doesn't explicitly mention whether Legacy Thrift sells candles, thrift stores often receive donations of various household items, so it's possible that candles could occasionally be found among their merchandise. Therefore, for those searching within the "Candles Near Me" category with an interest in thrifting, Legacy Thrift could potentially be a place to check.

However, the recent customer reviews provide a mixed perspective on the store's current state and practices. One reviewer shared a personal connection to the store, noting that their father had volunteered there before passing away, giving it a special place in their heart. This highlights the store's community involvement and reliance on volunteers.

Despite this personal connection, the same reviewer raised several significant complaints. Firstly, they observed a discrepancy between the number of donations received and the updated products appearing on the sales floor. They suggested that not all items deemed "high-end" by volunteers should be prioritized, and the rest should also be processed and made available. Secondly, pricing was a major concern, with the reviewer noting a wide range from "great to ridiculous," citing an example of a lamp priced at $500. They argued that thrift stores should cater to those seeking eco-friendly options or affordable alternatives to full-priced items, especially considering that the merchandise is donated and employees are unpaid volunteers. This sentiment was extended to other religious-based thrift stores in the area.

The third complaint involved store policy regarding children interacting with toys. The reviewer recounted an incident where their children were "respectfully and quietly exploring the toy section" while the mother was shopping nearby and spending money. Despite the children simply sitting on toys that were within reach and meant to be sat on, the reviewer reported being "verbally shamed" for this. Consequently, they chose to return their items and stated they would not be returning, expressing that the perceived lack of "love understanding and empathy" was inconsistent with the store's religious affiliation. They also noted that other reviews seemed to share similar sentiments.

Another review focused on the store's operating hours, stating "12-4. Worse than bankers hours." The reviewer questioned how the thrift store could generate income to support its mission with such limited hours. They pointed out that individuals who work regular hours and might have disposable income would likely be unable to shop there, as the store is not open before or after typical workdays. The reviewer suggested that relying solely on senior citizen volunteers who may be reluctant to work might be limiting the store's potential and proposed that hiring paid staff could lead to increased sales from extended operating hours, potentially covering the cost of employment.

Considering these reviews, the **environment** of Legacy Thrift is not explicitly described in terms of its physical appearance, but the first reviewer's experience suggests potential issues with the processing and availability of donated goods. The mention of a toy section implies that the store does carry a variety of items beyond just clothing. However, the incident with the children and the pricing concerns might contribute to a less welcoming atmosphere for some shoppers.

The **services** primarily involve the resale of donated goods. The reliance on volunteers indicates a community-driven model. However, the reviews raise questions about the efficiency of processing donations and the customer service experienced by shoppers, particularly regarding interactions with staff or volunteers about store policies.

The **features** of Legacy Thrift include its status as a thrift store, offering secondhand items at discounted prices (though the pricing strategy is a point of contention in the reviews). It operates based on donations and volunteer staff. The presence of a toy section is also a feature. For those interested in supporting a local thrift store with a potentially charitable mission, Legacy Thrift might be an option, but the reviews suggest being prepared for potentially high prices on some items and specific store policies.

Regarding **promotional information**, the provided text does not include any details about sales or special offers. As a thrift store relying on donations, their inventory and pricing are likely dynamic. Local users interested in finding out about specific items or any potential discounts would likely need to visit the store directly at 5274 Plainfield Ave NE, Grand Rapids, MI 49525, or contact them at (616) 363-3404 or +1 616-363-3404.

For those searching within the "Candles Near Me" category, Legacy Thrift might occasionally have donated candles available. However, given the feedback about inconsistent pricing and stock management, it would be advisable to visit with an open mind regarding what might be available and at what price.

In conclusion, Legacy Thrift in Grand Rapids operates as a discount thrift store supported by volunteers. While it holds sentimental value for some in the community, recent customer reviews have raised concerns about pricing inconsistencies, the process of making donated goods available, and customer service, particularly regarding store policies. The limited operating hours were also noted as a potential barrier for many shoppers. For local users interested in thrifting, including the possibility of finding items like candles, Legacy Thrift is an option, but it may be beneficial to be aware of the reported experiences.

If you are in the Grand Rapids area and considering Legacy Thrift for secondhand shopping, including a potential search for "Candles Near Me," the store is located at 5274 Plainfield Ave NE. You can contact them at (616) 363-3404 or +1 616-363-3404. However, based on recent feedback, your experience might vary in terms of pricing, stock availability, and store policies.

Staff was friendly and prices were more reasonable than some of the other big box thrift stores.

I left my name and number to purchase a table. I called 4 days in a row and it wasn’t priced - 5th day I called they sold it! They were rude and very un-customer service

Knocking off some stars because why are you pricing items at full original price as a community, church based thrift store? I paid the marked price, took the tag off when I got home and noticed they had priced it at the original price. A pre owned item. No wonder they have so many issues with people removing price tags (see other reviews) Cute stuff, but definitely way over priced.
